# Satelo

> Satelo is a network where websites of a similar level publish partner articles about each other in a circle. Free site checker, WordPress plugin, MCP server.

## What Satelo is (5 lines)
- A cross-promotion network for small and mid-size websites and blogs (EN + RU), in public beta. The network is still small; the live count of active sites is returned by the MCP tool `satelo_about`.
- Sites of a similar Quality Score, language and niche publish labelled partner articles about each other in circles A→B→C→A; there is never a direct A↔B exchange (a site your site published an article about in the last 180 days is never offered as your host).
- Internal credits called satellites (◉): earned by hosting articles, spent on articles about your own site; optional packs can be bought (10 ◉ = $25, 50 ◉ = $120, 200 ◉ = $460); satellites can NOT be withdrawn or cashed out.
- Each site owner sets the article price in satellites (Satelo recommends one from the Quality Score; 1 ◉ for a brand-new site). The host receives 100% of its price; the buyer pays the price + a 10% service fee.
- Every article is labelled "Partner content" and its links carry rel="sponsored". Free Quality Score (0–100) checker for any domain, built mostly from open data.

## What Satelo is not
- Not a PBN: Satelo does not create, buy or own the sites in the network; every site belongs to a verified owner (plugin handshake, verification file or meta tag).
- Not a link seller and not a dofollow service: no dofollow promise, no ranking promise, no "link juice" packages.
- Not direct link swapping (no A↔B within 180 days).
- Not a cash-out scheme: satellites are non-withdrawable internal credits.

- Not a big network yet: public beta; we do not publish user numbers we can't back up.

## How it works

- Steps: 1) check your site at /check/; 2) sign up (email link, no password; up to 20 sites); 3) connect: WordPress plugin with one-click join, or the API feed + verification file/meta tag for any site; 4) the first article on your site is about Satelo and pays your price +20% (min 2 ◉); 5) host articles about similar sites (auto-placement on by default; can be switched off for manual approval); 6) spend satellites on original articles about your site (1,500–30,000 characters, 1–2 natural links) on matched hosts.
- Refunds (in satellites, automatic): order not approved by the host within 7 days, host draft not published within 14 days, publishing failed, or an API-feed site did not render the article within 7 days.

- [Satellites ◉ (Satelo credits)](https://satelo.io/glossary/satellites/): Satellites (◉) are the internal credits of the Satelo network. A site earns them by publishing partner articles about other sites and spends them to get articles about itself published elsewhere in the network. They can be bought in packs but never cashed out. They have nothing to do with “satellite sites” in SEO.
- [Satelo Quality Score](https://satelo.io/glossary/quality-score/): The Satelo Quality Score is a 0–100 rating of a website built mostly from open data: popularity lists, open link graphs, domain age, plus a crawl of the site's content and technical health. A brand-new site with no evidence of visitors or links scores close to 0. Anyone can check any domain free at /check/.
- [PBN (private blog network)](https://satelo.io/glossary/pbn/): A PBN (private blog network) is a group of websites controlled by one person or company and used mainly to link to a “money site” in order to raise its search rankings. The sites are often built on expired domains and disguised as independent blogs. Search engines treat this as a link scheme.
- [Reciprocal link](https://satelo.io/glossary/reciprocal-link/): A reciprocal link is a pair of links where site A links to site B and site B links back to site A, usually by agreement (“link to me and I'll link to you”). Occasional mutual links between related sites are normal on the web; exchanging them at scale to influence rankings is treated as a link scheme.
- [Three-way link exchange](https://satelo.io/glossary/three-way-link-exchange/): A three-way link exchange (also called ABC linking) is an arrangement where site A links to site B, B links to C, and C links back to A, so no two sites link to each other directly. It is usually done to make traded links look less like reciprocal swaps.
- [Backlink exchange](https://satelo.io/glossary/backlink-exchange/): A backlink exchange is any arrangement in which websites trade links instead of earning them independently: direct reciprocal swaps, three-way loops, link-exchange platforms or article exchanges. Whether it is acceptable depends on intent and labelling: trades meant to manipulate rankings are link spam; disclosed partner content with qualified links is advertising.
- [rel="sponsored"](https://satelo.io/glossary/rel-sponsored/): rel="sponsored" is a value of the HTML rel attribute that marks a link as advertising, sponsorship or another kind of compensated placement. Google introduced it in 2019 and asks site owners to use it on paid or traded links so they are not treated as attempts to manipulate rankings.
- [Guest post](https://satelo.io/glossary/guest-post/): A guest post is an article written by someone outside the site and published on that site under the author's or a partner's name. Done well it brings the author readers and credibility and gives the host useful content; done as a link-buying tactic it becomes link spam.
- [Domain Rating (DR)](https://satelo.io/glossary/domain-rating/): Domain Rating (DR) is a proprietary 0–100 metric from Ahrefs that estimates the strength of a website's backlink profile compared with other sites in Ahrefs' index. It is based on links only and is not used by Google; a higher DR means more and stronger linking domains, not more traffic.
- [Tranco list](https://satelo.io/glossary/tranco/): Tranco is a free, research-oriented ranking of the most popular one million domains on the web. It averages several provider rankings over 30 days to resist manipulation and daily noise, and each list gets a permanent ID so studies can cite the exact version they used.
- [Crawl budget](https://satelo.io/glossary/crawl-budget/): Crawl budget is the number of URLs a search engine crawler can and wants to fetch from a site in a given period. Google describes it as a combination of crawl capacity (how much your server can handle) and crawl demand (how much Google wants to crawl, based on popularity and freshness).
- [noindex](https://satelo.io/glossary/noindex/): noindex is a rule, set in a robots meta tag or an X-Robots-Tag HTTP header, that tells search engines not to show a page in search results. The crawler must be able to fetch the page to see the rule, so a page blocked in robots.txt can stay indexed despite a noindex tag.
- [IndexNow](https://satelo.io/glossary/indexnow/): IndexNow is an open protocol that lets a website notify participating search engines the moment a URL is added, updated or deleted, instead of waiting for the next crawl. The site proves ownership with a key file hosted on its own domain, and a notification sent to one participating engine is shared with the others.
- [llms.txt](https://satelo.io/glossary/llms-txt/): llms.txt is a proposed standard for a Markdown file placed at the root of a website (/llms.txt) that gives large language models and AI agents a short, curated overview of the site: a title, a summary, and lists of the most useful links. An optional llms-full.txt can carry the full text.
- [MCP (Model Context Protocol)](https://satelo.io/glossary/mcp/): MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol for connecting AI applications such as Claude, ChatGPT-based tools or Cursor to external tools and data. An MCP server exposes named tools with typed inputs; an MCP client inside the AI app lists those tools and calls them when the model decides they are needed.

Сайт зарабатывает их, публикуя партнёрские статьи о других сайтах, и тратит на статьи о себе на других площадках сети. Сателлиты можно купить пакетом, но вывести нельзя. К «сайтам-сателлитам» из SEO-жаргона они отношения не имеют.
- [Индекс качества Satelo](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/indeks-kachestva/): Индекс качества Satelo — оценка сайта от 0 до 100, построенная в основном на открытых данных: рейтинги популярности, открытые ссылочные графы, возраст домена и обход самого сайта (контент и техническое состояние). Новый сайт без посетителей и ссылок получает около 0. Проверить любой домен можно бесплатно на /ru/check/.
- [PBN-сетка (частная сеть блогов)](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/pbn/): PBN (private blog network, частная сеть блогов) — группа сайтов под контролем одного владельца, которые нужны в основном для ссылок на продвигаемый «денежный» сайт. Часто это сайты на дропах (истёкших доменах) с ссылочной историей, замаскированные под независимые блоги. Поисковики считают это ссылочной схемой.
- [Сайт-сателлит](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/sajt-satellit/): Сайт-сателлит — вспомогательный сайт, который владелец создаёт не для собственной аудитории, а чтобы ставить ссылки на основной проект или перенаправлять на него трафик. Несколько таких сайтов образуют сетку (PBN). Поисковые системы относят ссылки с сателлитов к манипуляциям.
- [Взаимные ссылки (прямой обмен)](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/vzaimnye-ssylki/): Взаимные ссылки — пара ссылок, когда сайт A ссылается на сайт B, а B в ответ на A, обычно по договорённости «ты мне — я тебе». Редкие взаимные упоминания связанных сайтов — нормальная часть интернета; массовый обмен ради позиций поисковики считают ссылочной схемой.
- [Круговой обмен ссылками (A→B→C)](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/krugovoj-obmen-ssylkami/): Круговой, или трёхсторонний, обмен ссылками — схема, в которой сайт A ссылается на B, B на C, а C обратно на A, поэтому никакие два сайта не ссылаются друг на друга напрямую. Обычно её используют, чтобы обмен выглядел менее заметно, чем прямой «ты мне — я тебе».
- [DR сайта (Domain Rating)](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/dr-sajta/): DR (Domain Rating) — собственная метрика сервиса Ahrefs от 0 до 100, которая оценивает силу ссылочного профиля сайта по сравнению с другими сайтами в базе Ahrefs. Она строится только по ссылкам и поисковиками не используется: высокий DR означает больше сильных ссылающихся доменов, а не больше посетителей.
- [Краулинговый бюджет](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/kraulingovyj-byudzhet/): Краулинговый бюджет — число страниц сайта, которые поисковый робот может и хочет обойти за определённое время. Google описывает его как сочетание возможностей сканирования (сколько выдержит сервер) и потребности в сканировании (насколько роботу интересен сайт из-за популярности и обновлений).
- [noindex](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/noindex/): noindex — директива, которая запрещает поисковым системам показывать страницу в результатах поиска. Её ставят в метатег robots или в HTTP-заголовок X-Robots-Tag. Робот должен иметь доступ к странице, чтобы увидеть директиву, поэтому закрытая в robots.txt страница может остаться в индексе.
- [IndexNow](https://satelo.io/ru/glossary/indexnow/): IndexNow — открытый протокол, с помощью которого сайт сразу сообщает поисковым системам-участникам, что страница добавлена, изменена или удалена, не дожидаясь следующего обхода. Владение сайтом подтверждается файлом с ключом на домене, а уведомление, отправленное одному участнику, передаётся остальным.
